Universal Consultancy Services (UC Services) is the owner of this website. UC Services a Business Name of Abichandani & Associates Pty Ltd are Registered Tax Agents (Registration Number 70474 007) and are committed to protecting your privacy and your personal information and aims to maintain a high standard of compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (as amended by the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000).

How we collect personal information about you?

When you become a client of Universal Consultancy Services, most of the personal information about you is collected by us either directly from you or indirectly from your accounting, taxation, financial planning, estate, or legal documents.

What personal information do we collect about you?

We may collect any of the following information about you:

  • gender, date of birth and nominated beneficiaries;
  • contact details;
  • employment details such as your salary, superannuation contributions and employment status;
  • accounting records;
  • Tax File Number and taxation records;
  • statements of financial position regarding assets and liabilities;
  • attitudes to investment risks;
  • estate planning related information eg. next of kin and family details; and We may also need to ask you for other personal information to enable us to provide our services to you.

Why do we collect this information?

We collect this information to:

assist with the administration of your DIY Super Fund;
provide accounting, taxation, DIY superannuation fund establishment and administration, marketing of related services;
adequately administer, invest, pay or transfer of your Superannuation benefits in your DIY Super Fund and
enable our associates to assist you with related services, as required.

How do we use this personal information held about you?

Any personal information about you that we collect and record will only be used or disclosed by us lawfully and by fair means for the purpose of:

helping us to efficiently and effectively deliver and improve on our products and services or any other purpose specified to you at the time of collection; or
any other purpose if you would reasonably expect us to use or disclose that personal information for that other purpose and that other purpose is related to the above purpose; or
sending you news, and other information about our activities and general promotional material which we believe may be of interest to you, however, when we do this, we will provide you with an express opportunity to decline receiving any further communication from us of this type via an opt-out mechanism on our website. If we wish to use or disclose any of your personal information other than as set out above, we will not do so unless:

  • We have your express consent to do so;
  • We have reasonable grounds to believe that the use or disclosure is necessary to prevent a threat to life or health; or
  • We have reasonable grounds to believe that the use or disclosure is required by law or to enforce the law.

What happens if I want to access or correct the personal information held about me?

You may access your personal information held by us, subject to some exceptions.
We will respond to your request for access within 14 days and endeavour to provide the requested information within 30 days.
We may charge you a fee to recover our costs for providing access based on the quantity of material and time involved in providing access.
We may not be able to provide access to information in some situations including:

where providing you access will pose a serious threat to the life or health of any individual or will pose an unreasonable impact on the privacy of any individual;
where your request for access is frivolous or vexatious; or
where providing access would be unlawful, may prejudice an investigation of possible unlawful activity, may prejudice enforcement of law, or denying access is specifically authorised by law.

If we do not allow you to access your personal information, we will provide you with written reasons for its decision.

Do we provide your personal information to third parties?

There are some instances when we need to provide your personal information to third parties. Sometimes we need to outsource some of our administrative and related functions to external organisations. We may also need to seek assistance from lawyers, auditors and other advisors. Most of the above organisations are bound by confidentiality obligations to us.

We may also need to provide your details to the Australian Taxation Office and other government bodies as required by law.
We may also need to provide details of your personal information to your own financial advisors, brokers or other professional who are acting for you.

We do not sell your personal details to other organisations.
We may however use the information about you to assist us with internal marketing and to our associates and for our research purposes.


How do we keep your personal information secure?

We take reasonable steps to ensure that all information that we collect, use or discloses is stored in a secure environment that is accessed only by persons authorised by us to prevent misuse, loss or unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
If the personal information is no longer needed for any purpose, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify the personal information.
We endeavour to provide a secure environment and a reliable system but you should be aware that there are inherent risks associated with the electronic storage and transmission of information (particularly via the Internet) which cannot be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
